Lessons Learned

Here are a few tips to take away from the financial crisis…

In response to economic uncertainty, our national savings rate has increased drastically. While that’s good news, this increase in savings shouldn’t come from decreasing your investment in the stock market. Inflation will eat away at your savings, so make sure you’re still participating in the stock market for long-term growth.

As many are learning, credit is a lot harder to come by nowadays. It may not be as easy anymore, but we should all make sure we’ve got access to a line of credit in case we need it. Put some effort into cleaning up your credit record now and securing that credit line.

Stock market investing has also changed, going from a high-risk, easy money mindset to one of fear and inaction. But don’t sit on the sidelines! Keep investing like you normally would, using this opportunity to buy stocks at reduced prices. Buy low, sell high!

The real estate market has also gone through a tremendous shake-up, and the days of flipping houses for quick profit are over. Homeowners should keep their expectations for future price appreciation in check and stick to affordable housing.

Remember, moderation is key! Be realistic with your expectations, and you’ll come out ahead. FULL ARTICLE
